SENSORY ACTIVITY 

Early Childhood Lesson Plan Based on Sensory Learning

Fall 2019 
Learning experience with the goal to advance student sensory learning through the use of playdoh and other materials. Students were provided plastic shapes to make imprints, as well as other tools to flatten and experiment with. A reflection following the plan provides insight on the lesson's success and images of student work with captions.

FIRST GRADE MATH LESSON

Lesson plan using Pattern Blocks to Learn and Manipulate Shapes

 

Spring 2019 

A math lesson to introduce geometric shapes and their properties to the students. They will then be provided time to use the shapes to create larger objects to develop spatial awareness. A detailed reflection demonstrates the students' and my professional learning.

FIRST GRADE MATH LESSON

Lesson Plan Focusing on Number Sequencing 

Spring 2019
A lesson plan for learning how to sequence numbers using a 120 chart cut into various strips to be reconnected as a whole. Students will apply knowledge of numbers composed of tens and ones to arrange the pieces together and observe patterns. Includes a reflection on small group instruction and student results.

FIRST GRADE RUNNING RECORD REPORT

A first graders' reading fluency results and recommendations for further learning

Spring 2019 
This report gathers and describes data from a first grader for reading fluency ability and goals for the future. An overview of reading fluency and the assessment opens the report. Further, the students' results are assessed for strengths and areas of improvement to provide the teacher with learning goals for the individual.

LITERACY ALIVE!

K-1 Literacy Lesson Incorporating Mathematics and the book 7 Ate 9 by Tara Lazar

 

March 23, 2019 

Literacy Alive! is an event held at Middlesex County College by the Alpha Theta Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. My co-teacher and I planned and implemented a literacy lesson that incorporated math elements. Students spent thirty minutes in our session to participate in an interactive read aloud. At this event, students had an art session, literacy lesson session and group time with the author.

LINDENEAU REFLECTION JOURNALS

Ten Reflections from Classroom Observations Based on the Danielson Framework 

Spring 2018
Within my observation hours at Lindeneau Elementary School, I reflected on ten key experiences that supported my learning and growth as a future educator. These experiences were analyzed and recorded in relation to the four domains of the Danielson Framework and included space to share my thoughts.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP

Planned, Created, and Reflected on a Family Engagement Workshop

Fall 2019 
Developed a family engagement workshop for a preschool classroom setting. The goal was to engage the students and their families with an opportunity to bond in an art-based activity. This would also allow time for teachers to share information and interact with the families to build relationships.

CRITICAL LITERACY BOOK TALK

Presentation on a Picture Book Valuable for the Classroom and Families

Fall 2019 

I developed a presentation on the book Because by Mo Williams. I explained the value and importance of this book along the topics of diversity, tolerance, and acceptance. This book also provides learning opportunities about how one event can impact someone for their whole life.

Observing and Documenting 2.5 Year-Olds Learning Through Play

Fall 2019 
Throughout my observations, I took photos and documented students learning in the classroom. As the school philosophy centered on play-based learning, observations were connected to research. The students developed and learned various topics throughout each day and demonstrated growth over time.

Lesson plan containing two small group lessons to support student writing. One group is checking for capitalization in their writing, as the other group their check words for spelling by using the word wall.

Lesson Plan Focused on Identifying Story Parts of a Book

 

Spring 2019 

First grade lesson outlined to the Reader's Workshop model. A mini-lesson with a mentor text begins to introduce recognizing story parts, continues with student engagement and concludes with student independent practice all including texts to support learning.

Lesson Plan Introducing -ing and

-ang word endings

Spring 2019
A lesson plan introducing -ing and -ang 

word endings. The first day of lessons opens with a book and contains several activities to practice over several days. The focus on -ing and -ang offers slight contrast to observe in the blends.

Lesson Plan with Students Using Non-Standard Units to Measure Items in the Classroom

Spring 2019 
A math lesson focused on students' hands-on experience with measuring the length of objects within the classroom. They will use non-standard units and work in groups to develop mathematical and social skills.

KINDERGARTEN MATH AND LITERATURE LESSON

Lesson plan using the book 7 Ate 9 by Tara Lazar to Classify Numbers 1-20

 

Spring 2019 

A kindergarten lesson incorporating an interactive read aloud to introduce numbers and follow-up with classifying numbers 1-20. Interacting with the numbers in both literature and mathematics provides students opportunities to link the content to real-life examples.

FIRST GRADE ADDING SENSORY DETAILS LESSON

Lesson Plan with the Goal to Add Sensory Details to Writing

Spring 2019
In this writing lesson plan, students will be introduced to the five senses and how to use them to add description in their writing. Their five senses will support descriptive sentences and labels in their stories.

CHARACTER LESSON PLAN

Kindergarten Reading Lesson Plan Focusing on Main and Supporting Characters

Spring 2018 
A group written lesson plan with the focus of differentiating main versus supporting characters. The book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes is used to determine main or supporting characters throughout the interactive read aloud. Students then work in groups and individually to reinforce their knowledge.

KINDERGARTEN MATH LESSON

Lesson plan to introduce 2-D and
3-D shapes

 

Spring 2018 

A lesson plan to have students learn about 2-D and 3-D shapes based on the New Jersey Learning Standards. Students are engaged in whole-group instruction and breaks into the gradual release framework. YouTube videos are incorporated to engage students and develop gross motor development.

March 24, 2018

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT PROJECT

Developing a Learning Environment for Preschool Children

Spring 2017
I created my own early childhood learning environment as a hands-on learning experience. The classroom was made out of Legos and art supplies inside a big shoe box. I developed a classroom for large group and small group instruction, as well as and play-based learning to occur.
